Insanely Fast pfSense Router Home Network! (Setup, Hardware Build, 2.5Gb + 10Gb Speed Tests)

Have a 2.5Gbit port on your Cable Modem? WATCH THIS! Do you have a higher performance internal network capable of speeds greater then 1Gbit? Building your own home networking router with #pfsense is a great option. Especially if you have greater then 1Gb Internet Speeds on your WAN and 2.5Gbit LAN home networking, 10Gbit #homelab awesomeness, or even greater speeds. We are building our x86 with parts I had around and got some VERY unusual results. I seem to have unlocked greater speeds then I thought was possible with this one trick.

This video is a complete build guide for pfSense 2.7.0 including hardware selection (major overkill currently but will be virtualized with Proxmox soon), Initial Setup and Configuration, and testing for our 10gbit LAN connected to our 2.5gbit capable Cable Modem. I’m using what I have on-hand to build this out and am super impressed with the results so far.
