The retrieval operation of more than 100 illegal miners at an abandoned mine shaft in Sabie, Mpumalanga is underway. Suspected illegal miners are underground in the South Shaft.
The operation was called off last night for security reasons.
Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu, who monitored the retrieval operation this morning, vowed to pursue the people at the top of the illegal enterprise.
