Minefield benefits from both Mortar & Charged mines. Additionally, Mortar did gain benefits from targeting (but I'm not sure if it does anymore). Speccing exclusively into mine mods and increased construction speed (Support Specialist, Mine Specialist, Burnout Reactors, and Overseer helps) makes minefield pretty strong. Add Engineer into the mix, and you effectively have explosive buckshot. The -15% mine effect power of Mortar is also easily negated with increasing blast damage.

47:31 is the EXACT REASON minefield is so strong; It rewards patience and dodging/tanking with extreme damage in the form of a deadly lightshow. That -15% power really means nothing in the face of 16 simultaneous detonations (more if you go Loaded Splinter Grenades as well).

Just tried this with mortar. And it's worse. Especially the aiming part, believe it or not. You DO fire all your mines at once though.
I feel like a true pacifism run would require starting in draft mode so you can actually get some levels.

@10:49 ACKTSHUALLY one of the patch notes for 1.0 was that the velocity from calibrate now affects mines, presumably to make railgun mines better, as I don't think this benefits any other weapon.
You've mentioned minefield several times. You keep saying it's bad, but I've never seen it in action and didn't quite get why.
