I tried installing windows 11 on a 15 year old Unsupported Desktop. result: it didn’t work! Freezes
15 year old custom desktop:
Motherboard asus striker ii nse from 2008
CPU: Q9450 intel quad core from 2008
1. Result… Clean installation from USB Flash drive freezes at “Getting files ready for installation”
Happens at 0, 9, 11, 12, and 20%.
2. I have installed windows installation on MULTIPLE DIFFERENT USB FLASH DRIVES.
3. I have replaced the hard drive. I have even put a darn fan in front of the mobo.
4. I tried installing windows 10 and upgrading to windows 11. Again that froze during the black screen installation screen,.
Soo… if you’re considering installing windows 11 using a similar motherboard… it may not work.
If you do get it to work.. please let me know what you might have done?
Why did I try this? Well… why can’t I? Windows 11 is essentially windows 10 with some extra lipstick. NOTE.. windows 10 installs just fine.. and linux lite dual install boot works fine too.
