  1. Now alone, Mike contacts his superior via transmitter, who tells him that he will have to hold out for a few days before he can be rescued. Exposed to the harsh environment of the desert, he battles both the psychological and physical tolls of the treacherous situation he is trapped in, recalling memories or imagining appearances of Tommy, his girlfriend, his parents, and moments from when he was a young boy. FYI: The idea is to target the deminers who remove the landmineโ€”usually in a conflict setting, as (non-humanitarian, i.e. military) demining during a conflict is actually an offensive activity. Once the mine is moved by a deminer, the pressure release fuze on the mine or anti-handling device underneath it will detonate (and, in the latter case, most likely also set off the mine above), injuring or killing the deminer.

Keep in mind though that such a pressure-release fuze is only used in addition to the pressure fuze, so stepping on a functional landmine will still set off the fuze and detonate the mines. Waiting for help or looking for heavy objects will never be an option (at least outside of Hollywood). (Reddit: @MarkusSchindler)

  2. You know it's a bad movie when people stand on landmines thinking they only explode if you move your foot XD I mean maybe a few rare models might do that, but the majority of landmines are triggered once the weight pushes down on the detonator not when you remove the weight

  3. This stupid movie cliche of a land mine not blowing up until you take your foot off is so incredibly dumb. THATโ€™S NOT HOW LANDMINES WORK!!!

  4. Can anyone actually tell me of a single mine design that is triggered after pressure is released (not bouncing Bettyโ€™s) because Iโ€™ve heard several Vietnam vets and so many movies do it. Iโ€™ve looked into it and never found one because itโ€™s kinda counterintuitive but maybe there was a niche one

  5. The entire premise of this movie is stupid af. Landmines will go off once activated. Most are on time delays to do the most damage to groups of people or vehicles. No landmine goes off once pressure is released. The only time one wont go off is if it is a dud. Hollywood just makes most shit up. Just like how they use "silencers" aka suppressors. The guns are still crazy loud. A 30 decibel difference doesnt make a gun thats normally around 160db silent. Most cars are around 85db so you woukd still need ear protection

  6. Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking "Ah this is one of those dramatic "only blows up when you lift your foot" mines, and not, you know, a real one.
