It pisses me off that there are idiots who think the game failed because it was woke or whatever, when in reality it was because it is 40 dollars + PlayStation Plus + micro transactions, when the rivals are free to play with micro transactions (a lot cheaper)
Also the character designs are bad af independently of their weight, ethnicity, age or sexuality. Their clothes are ugly and strange, with weird greyish color palettes

It's not about their skin color, gender, sex, etc. They're just ugly and don't make any sense, Bazz being the biggest culprit. Or how about Daw. How does his outfit in any way imply that he's a healer/deployable-focused character? Teo's supposed to be a soldier. So why is he wearing an orange shirt and a football shoulder pad? Lennox is a cowboy with a revolver. Why the fuck is he wearing what looks to be a life preserver? It's like there was no thought behind these designs at all.

When the story trailer was released. I was actually kinda excited. I thought it was gonna be a story focused space opera single player game. Then it reveals that it's just another run of the mill hero shooter. I instantly lost all interest.
i dont like alien characters with features that are clearly taken from a human actor's face. just make them inhuman. thats the point of having an alien character.

Honestly the character designs look wayyy less ugly in a bright cel-shaded style (see the animated trailer)
It looks like the desings we're supposed to be bright and colorful but they're being washed out by the art style, they look like they're made for an animated sci-fi with 80s athstetics but the hyper-realism only serves to make them look ugly and uncanny.
Its almost as if the art direction is very confused? Either way it ends up with some deeply unappealeing characters to look at.
Turns out hero shooters need cool fun heroes people want to play.
So hereโs the thing the game is genuinely good. The characters a balanced and fun to play, the gunplay is punchy and satisfying. When you get down to the brass tacks there are a bunch of unique mechanics and ideas that I havenโt seen in any other shooter like it. I think if this game was given a chance people would see the game for what it is.

Before anything about the characters or any of that was brought up, Jesse Cox had the best take on this game from announcement. "Who the fuck asked for ANOTHER hero shooter" That is leaving a bad taste in people's mouths due to Overwatch 2's backlash and failures.
The naming scheme for those classes sound like a nightmare.
