In this tutorial we explain how to verify that the hardware virtualization is enabled in Linux Ubuntu such that you can install and run a virtual machine and Docker in Linux Ubuntu.

In order to install virtual machines on Linux, or to install Docker in Linux Ubuntu, we need to make sure that the hardware virtualization is enabled. Hardware virtualization on most machines should be enabled in system’s BIOS. You can double check that the hardware virtualization is enabled, by restarting the computer and by entering BIOS. On my HP Omen computer, I can enter bios by restarting the computer and by pressing ESC and then F10. However, even if you enable virtualization in BIOS, it is still required to double check that the virtualization is enabled in Linux Ubuntu.
