How to stop Windows 11 automatically downloading & installing WHQL Drivers
Sometimes Microsoft does some cool things. Sometimes not so much.
Windows can automatically download and install drivers and apps for your connected devices and components.
Sometimes though this can go wrong, and one of the main culprits of this is the AMD Chipset and APU / GPU drivers known more recently as the Adrenalin drivers.
If you have an error message on startup that there is a driver mismatch this is likely due to Microsoft Windows installing a newer or different driver than the Adrenalin software is expecting.
This can be stopped by disabling the “feature” in the OS
Right click on the Windows Start Flag.
Choose the System option.
On the windows that pops up, choose Advanced system settings
Now choose the Hardware tab at the top
Now you can select the automatic or manual driver install options.
