how to install windows server add active directory domain and attach it to a client(vm workstation)

today we will learn how to install windows server and attach client to it using (active directory domain or domain controller)

we will use windows server 2019
and windows 7 as client

we will be using vmware workstation
so you must have that installed

here we have both iso images

we will now run vm workstation

we will start with windows server

this will decide where your vm will be made on your computer and take space so choose a drive with space

you can play around with processors and ram depending on your pc but keep it close to mine

we will change the network adapter later

now we need to do 2 things
add iso image
and add vmnet adapter 1

use ctrl+ult to get mouse out of vm

we will start our client while waiting

most steps are same except this one

and you can get away with giving less ram on client especially if its win 7

same steps as previous

we will start our client too dont do this if u have a slow pc i have a good pc so i can multitask to save time

both of them are installing so lets wait

you can use ctrl+alt+enter to go full screen mode

remember to put both on vmnet 1 adapter so you can have connectivity in them and ping them

next we will setup our windows server using this guide we have step by step guide i will link it in the description

use ctrl+alt+insert to send signal or use your mouse

now the server will restart if you did all the steps sucessfully

now we will start giving ips to the clients and server

server 192.168.10.1 subnet will be 255.255.255.0
client 192.168.10.2 subnet will be 255.255.255.0

ad our server will be the dns dns will also be 192.168.10.1
we will give ip using ncpa.cpl command in cmd

if you have problems pinging just turn on network discovery in advanced sharing center

we can confirm the ip using ipconfig command

just turn both of these on

the ping should automatically start working when the setting on server is complete
ping started working
ping working on both sides

now we will make a user on windows server domain

user is complete now we will make our client join our domain

now our client will restart and join the domain

we made a user on server and logged into it using client
