Setting up a virtual environment using Oracle Virtual Box
The greatest challenges to begin the cyber security journey for any newbie is identifying where to start from and how to utilize the resources you already have. I believe the defining factor is always the zeal to learn and finding time within your busy schedule to learn a new skill while perfecting the old skill you already have. This vlog is geared to encourage anyone who is ready to spare at least 30 minutes of their day to learn a new skill in cyber security with just a basic laptop and zeal to learn.
I am using an old refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G3 with Intel(R) Core i5- 6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz (4 CPUs). It has an upgraded RAM of 12 GB having bought it with 8 GB which was fine. See below screenshot. You can check this by open run application in windows and use the command diagdx.
Please note the laptop or desktop you plan to use, needs to have Virtualization Technology (VTx) enabled. This can be done under BIOS setup as the machine boots up. For example, for HP laptops, turn on the computer, and then immediately press f10 to open BIOS Setup. Use the arrow keys to select the Configuration tab, and then select Virtualization Technology. Select Enable. Press f10 to save the settings and exit BIOS Setup. For more information, Click Here : .
