How To Fix Error Code 0x80073cfa When Uninstalling Apps on Windows [Solution]

Uninstalling an app from your Windows 11 PC is an easy task that doesn’t take much time. However, error codes like the 0x80073CFA can sometimes stop you in your tracks and prevent you from removing unwanted apps. 0x80073CFA is a common error code that usually pops up when you try to uninstall a Microsoft Store app or an Xbox game. It could either show up due to an issue with the Microsoft Store, corrupted system files, or pending Windows updates with the required patches.

Some of the common reasons that may trigger the error code 0x80073CFA while uninstalling an app/game include: A glitch with the Store, Pending Windows Update, A fault with the Windows Store cache, Corrupted system files and Microsoft account does not have admin rights

Commands Used In This Tutorial:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

Reset Windows Store Cache:
1. Press Win + R at the same time to evoke the Run box.
2. Type cmd and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run Command Prompt as administrator.
3. Type wsreset.exe and hit Enter to reset Microsoft Store cache.
4. Reboot your computer and try to uninstall the app again after the resetting process is done.

Perform SFC & DISM Scan:
1. Type cmd in the search bar to locate Command Prompt. Right-click on it to select Run as administrator.
2. If there is a message prompting to ask for administrative rights, hit Yes. In the command window, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter. It will take about 10 to 15 minutes for the tool to find and replace the corrupted or missing system files.
3. After the process is done, run the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Wait for a while and this command will repair any issue with the system image. The time will depend on the number of files available on your computer.

Unfortunately, just like with any other Windows components, not always everything goes well. 0x80073cfa is an error that users might sometimes face. Windows Store errors are extremely common, and while the root cause and the impact can vary, they all negatively impact the user experience. It is an uninstall error that prevents users from normally uninstalling apps.
