Windows 10 keeps track of startup and shutdown events in the system logs. You can view these logs using the Event Viewer tool. Here’s how you can access the startup and shutdown logs:
Open Event Viewer:
Press Win + X on your keyboard to open the Power User menu.
Select “Event Viewer” from the list.
Navigate to System Logs:
In the Event Viewer, expand the “Windows Logs” section in the left pane.
Click on “System” to view system-related events.
Filter the Events:
In the right pane, you’ll see a list of events. To filter the startup and shutdown events, click on the “Filter Current Log…” option in the Actions pane on the right.
Set Filters:
In the “Filter Current Log” window, under the “Event sources” dropdown, select “User32” for startup events and “EventLog” for shutdown events.
In the “Event IDs” field, enter “12” for startup events and “13” for shutdown events.
Click “OK” to apply the filters.
View Events:
After applying the filters, you should see a list of startup (Event ID 12) and shutdown (Event ID 13) events in the System log.
Note: Event ID 12 corresponds to system startup, and Event ID 13 corresponds to system shutdown. The timestamps and details of each event can provide information about when the system was started or shut down.
