Here’s Why Microsoft Removed Some Widgets from Windows 11



Microsoft has confirmed that in it’s ongoing efforts to improve the Widgets Board, the Calendar and To Do widgets have been removed from the Widgets collection in the Microsoft Store for now. Note: In some regions, Photos, Family and Microsoft 365 Feed widgets were also removed.

  1. Widgets are pretty much all useless. Most of them are nothing but gimmicks and even the odd useful one isn't useful because the damn board tends to forget what widgets were on it forcing you to add them all over again once in awhile. If MS wants to improve them, make them detachable, make the board itself movable, and actually add some widgets that do useful things. I don't need a widget to show me my own pictures, or give me outdated stock info etc.

  2. Now if they can only remove widgets entirely as well as the store, copilot and edge. Then that'l be grand. Make them optional installs so if people want them they can install them. Instead of forcing it on people's pc's. Nothing like opening your start menu at your professional company and seeing spotify, facebook, tik tok, xbox and who knows what else.
