Here We Go Again: Windows 10 KB5048239 Fails to Install With Error 0x80070643!
The update installs improvements to Windows recovery features and is the follow up to KB5034441. Some computers might not have a recovery partition that is large enough to complete this update:

Thanks
We are all so tired of Windows failed updates
I applied the said changes, but certain apps still won't run – even when they are MS hosted
sucks, but I guess we just have to wait . . . .
Everything ms touchโs. They end up ruining.
I don't have a recovery partition. Removed it from day one. Don't need it. It should not be needed for Microsoft to use at all.
there's a similar update to this on windows 11.
I was not able to install it, to the point that I contacted microsoft support and after 2 hours of long troubleshooting with them, nothing could be done.. I have to reinstall windows.
was this the flaw caused by a too small recovery partition that first needed to be expanded ? Ah yes it is. Fixing errors at microsoft is not really fixing anything is it.
I'm so sick of useless updates all the time…
every time ms screams improvement, the hair on my back lifts and its not enough calling it an improvement when thing breaks
I think in part is due to having a small SSD/NVME drive. 2 + years ago I could only afford a 500GB NVME drive & that has a recovery partition of 500MB. Previously I was running Win 10 on a 128GB SATA SSD that became far to small as Windows took up 70% of the drive, even installing programs on a HDD meant the SSD was at the limit of comfortable usability.
Now I think anything less than 1TB for C:/ means you will need another drive for games.
"Well it's Groundhog Day… again."
Thank you for letting us know. I remember getting that error.
I have the technical know how
hi BrenTech! can you make a video of a bug where people can't set background wallpaper & lock screen wallpaper with Photos app on Windows 10?
I have that bug, the only was is to right-click directly on the image file and set as desktop background, but as we all now that's only it, you can't set lock screen wallpaper that way. The other way is to select desired wallpaper directly from Settings app which is cumbersome.
Without your clear and calm way of keeping us all up to date and well-informed about M$'s antics (failures), I think I'd probably have given up by now and reverted back to either W8.1 or even W7, Brent.
Fortunately(?), I got that update on 13/11/24 without a hitch, but I keep telling myself to get cracking with learning how to use Linux Mint before Oct 2025, so maybe I'll make that my new year's resolution.
My needs are simple, but the Irish in me doesn't take kindly to how M$ treats its everyday users like mindless cattle. Billy Goats doesn't know what "compassion" means, so he should maybe learn to take a leaf out of your book. Many thanks for being here, and take care.
I resized my recovery partition to 1gb just to make sure there's enough space for any updates that need it and I do have a 1tb boot drive that's only used for the OS
Hopefully Microsoft pushes a patch much faster this time than they did the first time around. It honestly seems like nothing more than pure laziness. Thanks for all these videos. I'm totally blind and love how you clearly explain everything in detail. Keep up the awesome work!
