  1. Good advice. I always keep my gun in my glove box, but typically only if I have to leave it in order to enter a restricted building (bank; courthouse; etc). I’d rather it not get stolen, but I have other belongings in my car which can just as easily be stolen too. If someone steals my gun and uses it in a crime, I won’t lose sleep over that, as much as if they took my sleeping bag.

  2. I keep one in my car when im in the car… when I go somewhere else it goes with me… I don’t care where it is.. if it’s not a federation building idc.. your gun free zone sign means nothing to me sorry.. it’s not a gun free zone if I’m there

  3. In the same way that my wife is only allowed to carry on-body and not in her purse, 1000% no, i dont believe in unsecured firearms.
Even firearms locked in a car are incredibly vulnerable.
I could never live with myself if my lifesaving firearm were stolen and used for evil. Its simply not worth the risk.

  4. I have a Tuffy under back seat safe that is bolted through the bottom of the cab. The only time I put my gun in there is when going into the gym because that spot is much more secure than a gym locker.

  5. I live in Maine, a constitutional carry state, however I also live in a border town with Canada. Canada has draconian anti gun laws as well as almost absurd knife laws. For example, I got in the habit as a 22 year Law Enforcement Officer of carrying a folding knife with a one handed assist. The blade was never longer than 3 to 4 inches, and I never trained as a knife fighter. It was simply a handy tool, for a great many situations.
I'm retired now, and while I don't always carry a pistol, almost invariably I carry my knife. I frequently cross the border to meet a friend for coffee, go shopping , or even to have my ford worked on at the closest Ford garage.
I am extremely careful to always check myself and my car before I cross the bridge. And I've driven back home several times to ditch my knife, or because I still was carrying my pistol.
I have known several locals who have been stopped by Canadian Customs for a search and have found their handgun in a console or glove box. Their defense that it's legal in Maine carries absolutely no weight in Canada. They've been arrested by the RCMP, had their firearm seized and faced a huge legal expense.
When I was working I carried 24/7 365 days a year, and my badge and credentials covered that. I could even carry on an airplane, a hospital or a school. But now that I'm retired I am not covered. So I am incredibly careful to make sure I leave my gun home if I'm going somewhere . For example, today I had to go to tge hospital to get blood drawn and to the post office to mail a package, in both places it is against the law to carry a firearm, even in a constitutional carry state.
And I will never, ever leave my firearm unattended in a vehicle. So I simply do not carry it.

  6. I pocket carried a small 380acp from the California border to El Paso Tx where I live. My 9mms weren't allowed in Commiefornia because they have standard capacity mags. I would never think of leaving a firearm in the glovebox. Unfortunately I have to leave my firearm in my car safe every day because my current employer has a metal detector at the entrance. 😒

  7. I use a holster mount attached to my car, near my leg for long drives as well. It connects to the same IWB holster I wear so it will not come loose unless really pulled. I also have a small safe for those other situations where I HAVE to leave it behind.

  8. I got in an accident and my paperwork went over the top of the glove box and inside the dashboard. Luckily the guy was cool and didn't get the insurance company involved but if the police showed up I wouldn't have access to my registration or insurance.

  9. Regarding the mechanic opening the glove box — a good number of vehicles have fuse box panels in the back of the glove box, so if there's some electrical issue, that's going to be opened to check it.
I forget stuff in my vehicle all the time. Not letting a firearm be one of them.

  10. Or just have a compartment under the front seat that no one knew about (including you) for the 1st 3 months you had the car. That said, I don’t leave it in there unless I have to (playing football after church with the youth for example)

  11. I keep a small fire safe in the car, but usually try to carry on my person wherever possible. I have been thinking about buying an mck kit while they're BOGO, just to keep a kit in the car for my g3c. This would allow me to have a compact system with me, and the ability to make it more capable with stabilization while not leaving a firing platform in my vehicle to be stolen. Honestly, I feel like that's one of the largest practical benefits to having a chassis system, instead of a dedicated PCC 👍👍

  12. Yes, I do. I did the smart thing. I bought a fitted glove box and center console pistol lock box for both. Don't chance it, people. If your going leave your pistol in your vehicle. LOCK IT UP!
