I love you and appreciate you and find you funny and smart. Please get some rest
Know what? You're pretty cool.
Oooo I can't wait for type 4 video
Thanks for creating this series! It is gold for fiction writers
I’d be interested in videos going in-depth on the three different clusters and how they interact/vary from the their adjacent clusters (the jump from a 4 to a 5 for example)
12:15
I'm having a hard time getting behind this concept. I think I need help with this.
I feel you're right to say one's fixations can manifest from negative experiences, but I feel to suggest those fixations are inherently toxic, regardless of what context they're placed in, paints a misleading image of what self-help and humanity consist of.
Hearing this, I can't picture myself wrestling with sludge for the sake of myself and others, only me discarding the bodies of demon children, and a judge slapping a shackled and weeping beast.
I feel labeling fixations as "burdens" denies them the mercy they need in order to heal.
I wouldn't say I disagree with the intention of this idea, but its path concerns me.
Did i just miss the part where he explaines the weird lines between the numbers?
You gave a pretty good explanation if how ritual magic and divination work
I think Jordan is an 8, not a 3. Lebron is a 3
Im equally annoyed and thrilled that you mastered this kind of thing so early in life
could you link some good articles or other sources on this stuff? you said that theres a lot of misinformation / poor explanations so having something solid to read up on would be dope
this is incredible and i am excited
To preface this, I am a fan of your old videos and I enjoy your content. This more recent stuff is rather concerning, as it sounds like one of my enlightened rants before I was diagnosed as schizoaffective.
I am all for using niche psychoanalytic frameworks for analyzing fictional characters, but your fixation with finding hidden meaning and deeper understanding (even in your real life) that others do not understand is an early red flag for schizophrenic or schizoaffective issues. 5:15 is a strong example of this–a grandiose claim about understanding something quintessential about the world that others cannot seem to find. This is clear-cut delusional thinking, and you will not be able to recognize it (and probably scoff at the idea that it is delusional in the first place) without an external, professional lens. Your claim that "this is not about truth, but about what works" is the exact sort of self-contradictory belief that neurotypical people cannot realistically hold.
Having an intensely gnostic and self-certain mindset that deflects valid criticisms to your worldview will make it significantly harder to pull yourself out of psychoses later in life. Delusional mental disorders are some of the only ones that can be slowed or even halted by prompt treatment and lifestyle changes–as someone who has had their life disrupted by such a disorder, PLEASE consider getting screened. This comment comes out of a place of moderate enjoyment of your content, not from hate. If a licensed professional (with the authority to diagnose) determines that you have no risk of developing schizophrenia or related issues, I will crush my balls with a claw hammer.
while this is a useful tool to inspire on write certain character traits, the whole justification around enneagram being the representation of problems is 💀. Characters and people are much deeper than that, plus eurocentric juxtaposition of personal motives are simply naive in the kindest terms. Then LSM goes and further abstracts it with 3 "clusters". Ughh …The things that people do to run away from their social anxiety and awkwardness is just insane. "But it works, here is the proof" yeah bro that's exactly what your subconscious is trying to justify to you. Rather than being aware of your drives, try slapping over simplified, over abstracted bullshit tickets on it so that you dont have to feel scared or anxious no more. I am ranting on this because I used to do the same. Then you get lucky and ran into beautiful people who can show you that the people are much more rich with depth and there is more to explore. Wishing you the best of luck LSM, wishing you the best of luck.
Love ur understanding of enne…. Doing justice to the system
FUCKING FINALLY SOMEONE HAS SAID TI
After a few seconds: No two people are exactly alike. Two 4s may have different wings, two 4w3s may have different tri-types, two 4(w3)15s may have different social stackings, two 4(w3)15 OPs (ignoring sub-wings) will have different levels of health, and even two 4(w3)15 OPs at level 4 will have different work to do in each intelligence center based on their personal experiences and goals; A retired ballet dancer in Yemen or a student of journalism in Nepal.
Never heard of enneagram. But I have heard of Meyers-Briggs.
All these personality matrices are terrible at defining people. But they are useful in describing them.
I hated that people started treating enneagram types as a personality type thing. Ones are strict and judgmental and bossy, twos are kind and sweet and caring, threes are girlbosses, fours are whiny drama queens etc etc. It frustrated to see people use it like that. The reason why I prefer enneagram over mbti was because enneagram showed a chart for growth. Where and why there needs to be change in a character and how. Not a horoscope shit.
I feel like you’d like tarot, very similar relationship with the community and it’s mechanics. In my exploration
this actually changed my perspective fully. Very cool video, thank you.
I love your brain
Never even heard of this thing. Please continue. I'd like to see more of this topic specifically because I find it so interesting, even thought I would describe myself as a relatively charasmatic and extroverted person without as much trouble talking to people as you say you do. However I also love your other writing content. Tldr please never stop youre one of my favorite youtubers
Glad you’re back to do, stuff. Let’s go YARD!
This entire video was a nothing burger.
I never heard of enneagrams in my entire life, and finished this video knowing just as much about them as a short sentence would've.
What book could I read to get the real enneagram
The enneagram (4) had me staring at who I really am and all of my problems (including myself) and I disliked it all. It sent me into an existential crisis, changed the way I view my reality, and prompted me to start practicing self awareness and reflection.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's not about "truth", but rather it's not about knowing the "mechanism". It can still be true especially if it works.
I agree with basically everything you say, but I find the way you talk really smug and self-satisfied even when you're being actively self-critical. Found the video unbearable because of this – sorry, I don't really know why. I also don't know why I typed and posted this comment, but I will continue to watch everything you make because you make very salient and useful points.
Bro has been Mystic pilled and is about to go Mage mode
Uh oh, you sound my like uncle
I was on board when you were highlighting this as a character writing tool, not a real people decoder. You said it yourself, people are affected by their environments at a young age. Perhaps also consider people are constantly affected by their environments, all the time. Promise there are more numbers than 9, okay? I mean, mbti’s got 16, but also 4, depending who you ask. But also 128. 12 signs… you get the idea. It’s arbitrary where you draw the line on what a distinct behaviour/motive is.
Trying to “hack” people, instead of the ye-olde-fashionede-getting-to-know-them isn’t going to give any long term benefits. Unless you don’t care about that, in which case, proceed. I’m sure your acquaintances and business partners adore you
Make a guide on how to create a "12 angry men"-style Who-dunit story with "Sin City" vibes.
Wow this is like star signs… But actually good
I am absolutely excited for this series! A small request, LocalScriptMan, would it be possible to put the Enneagrams in a single playlist on your channel? It would make it a lot easier to share this series with others! 🙂 Cheers!
What's outro music?
So instead of it being a pseudo-scientific categorization tool, it's actually a pseudo-scientific psychology tool. So it's not only just stupid but dangerously stupid and you don't care because it makes you lots of money. If you were a number you'd be a -12.
Man am I excited I love the enneagram, was hoping you'd go deeper into this
Yes!!! I have only been following you for a short while. I knew this was coming! I'm ready 📝
How did you become a writing consultant/ what qualifications do you need? I know you have a YouTube channel to do with writing, but a writing consultant sounds like one of the few career paths I would actually be interested in. How did you get into it/ did you take any courses? How did you get clients, etc.?
Always wanted to learn how to utilise the enneagram for both my writing and personal life – been watching you for a while, and this is all brilliant.
Lucas. Thank you. I am trying to consume everything about writing and writing as I go, but I seen one of your first videos that got super popular for the first time and ever since you explained something about how to use a characters inner desires and struggles I just knew that somewhere locked up in this guys mind is the answer to how I can truly start to build a good conflict between my characters.
Looking forward to seeing more of this explanation of how different people aren't categorized but their inner urges shape the way they react. That's what I want to know more of.
Like for an example I'm pretty sure I'm a 9 because I find myself just agreeing with people, going with the flow of things, and overall just trying to keep everyone on the same side of arguments and explain peoples sides for them but how would that help me if I was writing a story about a 9? Google can't help me with that. I'm just anticipating learning how you use their inner urges to keep the plot going and yes I'm gonna watch your new enneagram 9 video as soon as I post this comment.
Have a good day people! 🙂 and post as many videos of this enneagram stuff as you can. I NEED IT. 😂😭
What if i without knowing wrote all my characters really close to each other or having the problems of a nine ? Should i make them different?
ohhhhhhhhh so thats why i have 1, 6, and 2 stuff
Looking forward to the rest of your videos
I feel like the use of a majority of labels are watered down to this extent, humans need labels but we rely on them so much that it causes us to blame the labels for being superficial but it’s us. We are superficial, and when we don’t try to take a step back and see things for what they are, these labels (that should be useful) seem to consume us entirely
What enneagram resources do you recommend to learn more about it in the mindset you have? are there any books or websites to look at?
