  2. All the usual things that make these videos great is here. The drone shot in particular was spectacular. All these small towns are very carefully documented and discussed along with background regional history. The amount of information presented is incredible given the tiny size of these communities. You will see things more clearly because you end up learning so much thanks to the intense curiosity, video art and intelligence of Chris.

  3. Camp Robert Drake lies just south of Oakwood and was a part of my Boy Scout experience back in the '60's. It's still a very active Scout camp, but its official address is Fairmount. Being nestled in along the Salt River and the strip-mined area (called the "Pollywogs") has made for interesting canoeing and hiking through the years!

  4. I use to hang out in Danville during my short stay in Champaign, & to be honest I liked it the people there told me it was incorporated to be a retirement town which made sense considering how it looked at the time however me being a born & raised Chicago native I gotta outta there fast πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I still know people who live down there

  5. Well shux! I'll subscribe to that other channel. I lived in Paris, just south of Vermillion County and worked for EMS. Danville sure has gone to he-hockeystix, hadn't thought of the other towns except r/t Illinois Politics which suck. All those stats prove THAT.

  6. WOW!!! Chris, congrats on that many subscribers for both channels. Very well deserved. I do go to the archives after viewing this channel. I love that you are doing my home state right now of Illinois.

  7. Living in the Chicagoland area I want to thank you for giving me a video of towns I will never drive through. I agree Catlin was the best looking of the bunch. Thanks for taking one for the team Chris!πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

  8. Lived in Catlin most of my life the buildings by the post office and old bank were owned by somebody that I'll say was self serving not a public servant safe to walk through live in Danville now decaying city losing quaker oats was not good one bit it seemed like the beginning of the end was losing general motors

  9. Maybe quit offshoring so many jobs, it seems that depressed areas have a direct correlation to the amount of jobs leaving the country. Sure, stuff comes back with a cheap price but if people don't have jobs who's going to have the money to buy the cheap stuff.

  10. This was a very good episode. Honest and insightful analysis of this county.. I think it is difficult to be honest and not come in with rose colored glasses. Many small communities have had to bear the brunt of bad policy and economic change. It is fast coming the time when these communities will simply be gone. Episodes such as this are important as they provide witness to places that will soon be completely gone.. Thanks for doing a difficult job well..

  11. This is what all communities that have fossil fuel as there main source of income will look like, this is your future… And the taxes are forcing people out of the state. This is not sustainable, the house of cards cannot last much longer, sad…
