  1. The leaders of Ghana don’t care, they’re selfish and sellouts, if the government officials are honest about the country they are going to take care about the citizens.

  2. Thanks NBC news but I think you guys should help us stop 🛑 this galamsey which is being spearheaded by the NPP government and its appointees is so pathetic and devastating problem we’re facing right now

  3. What this report is missing is the fact that the president and his elected officials are suspected to be behind much of the illegal mining and has refused to declare a state of emergency

  4. The sad thing is that these demonstrators are motivated by the opposition leader who himself on the low is encouraging galamsey. Confused party. They think these demonstrations will win them elections. They will have a shock of their lives in December. Galamsey is a national issue not a political issue.

  5. NBC should focus on throwing more light on the gold the British stole into the Queen of England's vault. Over $450 Billion USD worth of gold in the Queen Elizabeth vault in England. When is Britain 🇬🇧 going to return the stolen gold is the question NBC should be asking.

  6. Some pretend to be protesting against illegal mining/ Galamsey…NO. it is their demonstration of envy and jealousy against the current Prez Akufo Addo led Government, who has actually brought gravitas: innovation, and introduced problem solving measures, social interventions to quite a number of areas of the economy.

Illegal mining in Ghana is a generational menace. It can be stopped…but that is not gonna come cheap.

Come on, you cavilers, get woken

Has there been massive corruption in the current administration? Yes. It's everywhere The government hasn't done a thing to reduce corruption

Could Prez Nana Addo have done a far more job within the last 8 years? Absolutely.

Has he failed to deliver on his tall list of campaign promises? He has disappointed himself, and Ghanaians, and posterity will judge. He's betrayed the hope and aspirations of many, considering what he has spent almost all his fighting for.

However, these protests are engineered by some of the incompetent ilk who are seeking re-election.

  8. Leaders in both major political parties and chiefs are deeply involved in the menace. This problem can't be solved unless those living in the communities stand up for themselves. But will they?

  9. So in order for Ghana's gold to be 'authenticated' and considered 'equal' as this man says at @3:12 ', it needs to have the UK's stamp, how silly is that. Colonisation has really done some damage. Can't wait for Ghana to open its own refinery.

  10. Anyone who blames this on the current government has no idea about the issue and is only doing politics because election is only a month away. The issue has been there for decades and there is no problem with galamsey itself but the problem is with those that destroy the water bodies which started mainly after the Chinese people started these mining. Galamsey is mainly done on land and there are a LOT of people in the various mining villages who demand on it so it can’t be banned but can only be regulated. Most of the people on TV in Accra have no idea what they are talking about. The people in these mining communities don’t share these ideas that some people in Accra are making noise about. The communities and their leaders need to be much involved.

  11. It’s a shame to open a refinery just to qualify for international standards. Who are these people setting these standards. Are these people not the some people rubbing the countries and causing conflicts among the people. Why not set your own standards
for international qualification and keep the gold!!
