Chinese mining companies in SA likely 'gathering intelligence': ASPI analyst

Senior ASPI analyst Malcolm Davis says Chinese businesses given access to top-secret military sites in South Australia are likely there “for gathering intelligence on Australia’s military activities.”

He argues that defence shouldn’t let these companies gain ground in the protected area.

“The military activities of our key allies and partners,” Mr Davis told Sky News host Caleb Bond.

“There is no way that defence should allow these companies to establish a foothold in the warmer protected area.

“You might as well open the door and say, come in and take what you want.”
