Cancer Genomics: studying carcinogenesis through somatic mutations

In a new BDBITalk, Mònica Sánchez, a postdoc fellow at IRB Barcelona, will speak about cancer genomics and how bioinformatics tools can identify cancer genes and cancer mutations. She will also explain what mutational signatures are and how these can help us to study the origin and evolution of tumours.

Mònica Sánchez studied Biomedical Science and holds a PhD in Preclinical Research from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Vall d’Hebron Oncology Institute. Since 2020, she has pursued postdoctoral research at the Biomedical Genomics group, led by Núria López-Bigas at IRB Barcelona where she tries to better understand the processes that lead to cancer.
