Who is Ron Spomer

For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I’ve seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

  1. Just the beginning of the end for 22 long . Made for the green weenie states. Never thought you would push for a scam ammo. Here's a better solution, lets vote out the green weenies.

  2. Just change barrel he says. Yeah by the time you pay for the new barrel and pay a gunsmith to change them. You'll have more money invested in that versus buying the gun🤷‍♂️🙄

  3. Kind of like buying a rifle that shoots Hornady 300 PRC. NO cheaper then a 300 Win Mag and not much cheaper then 338 Lapua. Yeah won't be switching to that ever for a plinker…

  4. You never know what catches on. Now Winchester has to shell out some money to get the the gun writers and gun publications in their pocket…or maybe some popular gun you tubers. Build up the '21 sharp'.

  5. I think rimfires have become almost obsolete by PCP airguns. In the future increasingly so.
I'd say there is no room in the market for a more niche and more expensive .22lr-variant.
.22lr will be around for probably forever, though. All the other variants are pretty much dead in a niche.

  6. Would have at least looked at it until you said they wanted a lead alternative, I will not support that nonsense , that is a bunch of bs the left has pushed on us so shame on you Winchester!!!! Hard pass!!!!!

  7. Winchester does it again.
After receiving a couple of .22s from my Dad's estate, I bought a box of Winchester black box M22 ammo after running out of some cheap Thunderbolt and some Federal I had around. The M22 wouldn't load in the cylinder of my S&W K22 Model 17-3. At least half of them wouldn't load. A quarter with really tight, and were a real problem getting out after firing. Only about a quarter of them would load. They fired more or less OK in my High Standard. Still there were a few failures to eject. The only thing they worked OK in was my Marlin 39A.
Since then, I bought a bucket or bullets, the Golden .22LR from Remington. Initially, they did well, fit the S&W, but I have had some failures to eject on the High Standard.
Federal seems to be the only ones that are firing consistently.

  8. Ron, thanks for swallowing this BS hook line and sinker. Document the amount of non-target species that have died of certified lead poisoning. Oh yes no straightline mags, now just rotaries, Right ! Phase out those 22 rifles. Dude you have swallowed this whole narrative, screw everyone. Don't think I will view anymore of your videos. Too much crap.

  9. Winchester tried introducing a new 22 many years ago. It never made it out of the six foot hole. It seems they tried to take the rimfire used in rock hammers and putting a bullet instead of blanks. If you want to go rogue, go 22TCM.
