In Southern California, you can throw a stick in any direction and it will lead you to an abandoned mine. This adventure was a little more calculated, but we really didn’t know what to expect with this one. Waste rock piles dot the upper reaches of the hills in this area. There are too many adits to count. While some were boring prospects, others held interesting bits of history almost lost to time. While the miner’s hoped to strike it rich with high-grade ore bodies, we hoped only to find the artifacts they left behind.
