Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server, and more… – Azure Daily Minute Podcast – 23-OCT-2023
#UniversalCrossRegion #AzureDatabase #FlexibleServer #MySQL #WindowsServer2021 #EndOfSupport — Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server, and Windows Server 2012/R2 reached end of support.
Hello, this is John Lewis, and welcome to your Azure Daily Minute for Monday, October 23rd, 2023.
Universal cross-region read replica on Azure Database for MySQL is now generally available. As published on October 11, 2023, read replica, in universal regions, includes the new ability to replicate data from an instance of Azure Database for MySQL, Flexible Server, to a read-only server in a universal region. This could be any region from the list of Azure supported regions where flexible server is supported. Universal cross-region read replicas for read-only traffic can be used to provide protection from regional disasters.
Windows Server 2012/R2 reached end of support on October 10th, 2023. All Windows Server 2012/R2 workloads will no longer receive regular security updates. Organizations can remain protected by upgrading to the latest version of Windows Server or migrating to Azure with options such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Dedicated Host, Azure VMware Solution, and Azure Stack Hyper Convergence Infrastructure. The costs of migrating to Azure can be minimized by using the Azure Hybrid Benefit consumption model. Other savings plans, such as reserved instances for compute, allows for addition savings when purchasing Azure for Windows Server.
That wraps up the Azure Daily Minute for Monday, October 23rd, 2023. Until next time, take care and go build great things!
