Australia’s commitment to mining needs to be ‘made clear’ to investors

Resources Minister Madeline King says Australia needs to make their commitment to the critical mineral and rare earth industry clear to investors alongside working towards renewable energy targets.

Ms King on Tuesday praised Liberal premiers David Brand and Charles Court for their help in creating the conditions needed for the iron ore and gas industries to reach a nation-building level.

“Production tax incentives are about crowding an investment; there will be no production incentives paid without success that’s already been established,” Ms King told Sky News Australia.

“You need to be able to send a message to capital investors, whether they are local investors, or people from overseas, or companies or governments from overseas, that Australia is committed to a critical mineral and rare earth industry.”
