AliExpress cheapskate visits boutique bike show…

I’m known for dealing in very cheap bike parts, most of which I get direct from China via AliExpress. So I decided to visit Rouleur Live…

Rouleur Live is a yearly bike show in the UK that has a reputation for showcasing the more premium side of the bike industry. Many of the bands involved are incredibly boutique, some only producing a handful of bikes every year.

For example Bastion, one of the brands present, is an Australian company making the most expensive bikes you can currently buy. Their prices vary depending on how you choose to spec everything out, but expect to pay upwards of $30,000 for a road bike!

There are also loads of well known brands present, such as Pinarello, Colnago, Cervelo, Argon 18, and Trek. I also spent some time grilling Cannondale on their new Lab71 lineup, and to be honest, I wasn’t particularly impressed. In addition the Van Rysel stand, Decathlons premium road bike brand, displayed their new RCR Pro, which at £9000, wasn’t particularly impressive either in my opinion.

However there were a number of REALLY cool companies, showing off some incredible bikes, even if the prices were somewhat eye-watering.
So come with me, while I take quite a sceptical view of the ultra premium bike market.
