Sky News host Chris Kenny says the Albanese government has blocked a “critical project”, part of a billion-dollar gold mining development in New South Wales “on the grounds of Indigenous cultural heritage”.
“This has happened even though the local land council says it has no problem with the proposal,” he said.
“Now the tailings dam has been blocked by the federal environment minister Tanya Plibersek to protect what she calls ‘significant Aboriginal heritage areas’.”
“She claims the mine can be modified and still go ahead, but Regis Resources says it’s not so sure.
“The mining company Regis Resources says this decision that blocks its tailings Dam will thwart the entire project.”
Mr Kenny was joined by New South Wales Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee to discuss the Albanese government blocking the project.

This news story has not told the full story . They wanted to put the tailings dam at the head of a river system . I am all for mining but come on . Move it away from the river . Dam walls can burst and the floors do leak with the head pressure when they do lifts on the dam . Tailings are bad . Just move the tailings dam . It is only on paper. It is not even built yet .
