Adding a Local Printer in Linux: Easy Steps for Compatibility and Installation
Learn how to install a printer in Ubuntu, a popular Linux operating system. Adding a printer in Linux may be different than in other OSs. Avoid Lexmark printers as they have poor compatibility with Linux. Assuming you already have a printer, follow these steps: 1) Turn on and connect your printer to your computer, 2) Check if your computer detects the printer automatically upon startup, 3) If not, proceed as superuser with the add printer wizard by clicking administrator mode and entering your password (a red border will appear), 4) Click add and then new printer to start the wizard, 5) Select your connection type. Note that HP printers require the installation of the hplip package and running hp-setup for proper setup.
