1:01:40 That sequence is a random event that can happen any time you enter the lobby, it is not intended as a tutorial, you just so happened to get in on your first try. 1.0 has alot of little bits like that where some warps have a small percent chance to send you to an alternate version of the map.
Also, I'm not too sure about this but I think in the latest update they made it so non painting warps also allow you to exit in the proper location, every level warping you back to hall in 0.7 was more due to the ID system in SM64 being a huge pain in the ass to work with when you're dealing with as many stars/levels as are in B3313, so for much of the development that was considered something to be fixed at some indeterminant later date. It's the same reason why 0.7 had so many duplicate stars.

Oh so fun fact! about the Lobby you got in the 1.0 section.
That isn't the default starting lobby, that's random chance.
The game added a couple of things that can happen at random chance when going through transition doors (the ones that black out the screen to load in a new area) and some paintings, where every now and then they will pick a different place to send you. The front door of the castle will normally take you to either Lobby A or Lobby B, but on very rare chances it can choose to take you to an area called Lobby.z64 (which is the one you got), if B3313 decides you get Lobby.z64, the doors will always take you there until you restart the game. This is kind of cool because spooky and whatever but it can be annoying at times.
