I am curious about the absence of diesel heaters in truck campers. I understand that diesel heaters consume approximately one gallon (2.2 liters) of fuel per day.

Have you ever thought of putting a mini wood burning stove in your camper. At least when the propane doesn't work you always have a back up source of heat.

Did -18 one time in Colorado in a Class C. Kept it at 55 for 3 days with a wave 3 and small electric heater. Wasn’t pleasant as the floor gets so cold.
Should’ve handled better than my truck cap when I went out in it 💪🏻🤙🏻

You are right at the limit I went tent camping. Had to do it to say hey I did it, but I don't think I would do that again, especially since I sold my western mountaineering bag.

Did -30F in my Bigfoot last week in AK but had to run the generator so the batteries could keep up with the furnace.

Ok couldn't you put your clothes in a plastic air tight container, that's what I do, as my clothes still have the same problem as you do.
I have a double duvet under my sheet for warmth and a duvet to cover me over.

We had a heatwave here in Fairbanks, AK today at 20F, last week it was -25F.

I live year round in an 2012 Artic Fox 990 with dinette slide. Squamish BC has much the same weather as Vancouver. Average consumption of propane (2 – 30lbs bottles) during -5c and colder was 2 bottles per week at now $42 per refill. ($84/week $336/month). Every 3+ days you need to get a bottle refilled. It's a pain if you are setup to not move every day. Not everyone is a YouTuber on the move making content. If you are a couple+ your camper condensation issues double. Storage cabinets are not vented. you will get mold if the doors are not open 24/7.
Is it doable? Yes but it will be costly for winter in Canada.

Retired from many years of HVAC service. Dealing with air flow in those little nooks and crannies- just remember you can't put air in if you don;t take air out, in other words if has to circulate.
I know what you mean by Calgary has no dump stations, Hauled my full Black and Grey tanks all the way back to BC last summer.

Its never a bad idea to mount the diesel heater and use it as a backup. I have mini furnace in my homemade mini camper/sleeper and a diesel heater in my ambulance conversion. They both work great, and I've never had an issue with either. However having a propane furnace in a small space will never not make me nervous every time it lights up lol. Im not sure what size you bought but you want a 2kw for the size space you have. It much better to run a smaller heater on high, then a bigger heater on low. Running them hot keeps the burn chamber clean and pretty much problem free. The temps get cold enough where your at its always good to have back ups for backups. My ambo has the diesel heater, an electric heater i can run off the generator, and then it still has heat/ac ducted to the back from the truck heat/ac. If all that fails and my blankets/sleeping bags aren't enough then its just my time.
