Microsoft is lying – Windows 11 runs fine.. Even on a 1st gen 2010 Core i7 980X

So, just to prove anyone saying otherwise wrong, I loaded Windows 11 on the most extreme edge case I could, I pulled out all the stops. I loaded Windows 7 on my 1st Gen Core i7 980X Retro build… then, unsatisfied with that, I threw in an RTX 3080 just for good measure. Yeah, I guess you could argue it isnt as secure, but I think thats just a crap excuse that is always used for anything anti consumer. I am confident if it even is a problem 3rd party solutions would address the market demand for added security. We are gonna have tons of fun with this one, and I promise you, someone is going to comment that we need it to be this way… for our own good, of coarse.

  1. Windows 11 did not actually invent the security and TPM bs. It was already included with Windows 10, except Windows 11 just forces it on you and takes all the credit

And the fact that my Ryzen 7 1700x gets blocked despite my rig enabling every feature but the crappy Celeron they been putting in e-waste laptops the past few years is fine? Micro$oft just wants you to buy more crap that you don't need

  2. I'm running Windows 11 Pro 24H2 on an Asus P8P67 motherboard, Intel Core i7-2600k @ 3.40 GHz CPU, GTX 980 GPU, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB Drive. This is an unsupported system upgraded recently from Windows 10 Pro using Flyby11, see various Youtube videos on Flyby.

  3. I just changed from an overclocked liquid metal treated i7 6700K @4.6,GHz to Ryzen 7800X3D. Frame rate in CP77 went up maybe 10-15. But I turned crowd density to high.
What is the most important is how smooth the game became. I can play much better too thanks to this. The old CPU was not holding up to the 3080 since I got it 4 years ago.

  4. A big thanks to microsoft for engineering an upgrade cycle when a) there is a cost of living crisis, b) inflation is through the roof, c) we have the most underwhelming generation of CPUs ever, from both AMD and Intel, d) NVIDEA is price gouging customers and e) AMD is happy to let them do it and walk one step behind, while not competing at the high end, ensuring NVIDEA enjoys its monopoly. As consumers we have not seen a decent argument why TPM 2.0 was required, we've not seen enhanced security, it's the same vulnerable operating system as before.

  5. I'm running Windows 11 on first gen ryzen 5 1600 and it runs perfectly fine. The only thing that I think Microsoft used for why they limited was because Meltdown and Spectre were not fixed until 2nd gen Ryzen and 8th gen Intel. They wanted to be able to brag about their security and…Also get people to buy new machines. Other than making their oem partners happy there's no other reason to enforce those cpu limits.

  6. Since end 2021 I run Windows 11 Pro in a VBox VM on both my 2019 desktop a Ryzen 3 2200G and my 2011 laptop with an i5-2520M. Both CPU are not supported by Windows 11 according to the installer. However 2 months ago I made an error by going to the Windows Insider Program. During its first transfer-update, it checked again on the Ryzen 3 2200G CPU and it refused to perform that transfer-update. So now since 2 months only the security updates are done and the others wait for that failed upgrade to the Insider Program. Microsoft will not check Windows for bugs only valid for those older CPUs.

I did not like to reinstall Windows 11 again, but I planned a mid-life upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600GT in January. So I do it a month earlier and I ordered the 5600GT for the 11th of December 🙂 I expect, afterwards it will run on both CPUs (Ryzen 5 5600GT and I5-2520M) again after the transfer-update to the insider program. As an alternative: I have two activated Windows 10 Pro VMs and with that new Ryzen I could upgrade one to Windows 11 Pro and forget about the Insider Program.

  7. How did you install w11 and get around the system requirements? Did you use Tiny11 or something similar? I have a similar Core i7 920 with 16 gigs of RAM, though when w10 turns into a pumpkin i'll probably switch to Linux Mint instead.

  8. ¿Does it run LoL? ¿What about Valorant?
    ¡¿What do you mean no?!

One installs an OS to run Software, not for the "pleasure" of running the OS itself.

Better run Win11 on supported configurations, in order to to able to run programs…

  9. I don't think they ever said it wouldn't run on old hardware. They just said it needed TPM2 for "security" reasons. That may well be increased financial "security" for its hardware partners, if people weren't upgrading fast enough for their liking.

  10. Ms did the exact same thing for windows 10. They used scripts to detect what hardware you were using then would tell you if was compatible or not. Ppl found out and simple change that to make run on almost anything.

Ms never learns and windows 10/11 will always be bloatware vs any other os.

  11. I'm running Windows 11 23h2 on an old DDR2 PC with a Core 2 Quad q6600 cpu and a GT 610 gpu and so far it's running fine with all the updates installed! Waiting to see if there's a Windows 11 update to upgrade to 24h2.

  12. PS:Soon will suddenly millions of people vanish!
After it, “they” will tell you that “aliens or nukes/EMP-effect” are responsible for this, but in reality what will have happened is known as the rapture!
Ask yourself do I want to be on earth during 7 years of basically “hell on earth” or in heaven?
If you want to be in heaven during the tribulation, then here is your “flight ticket” to the rapture:
if you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day, then your sins are forgiven, and you are assured of eternal life!
You can find this good news here:
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4
    “1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
By the way, gospel means "good news":-).
Only through Jesus Christ can you receive eternal life and the forgiveness of your sins:
    John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Do you know how much God loves you?
    He loves you so much:
    John 3:16
““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
    This could be your future:
    Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

  13. Microsoft restricts Windows 11 based on hardware for profit. If you use Chris Titus MicroWin utility to strip out the garbage in Windows 11 24H2 including Microsoft Edge, Windows 11 24H2 runs extremely fast in a VIrtualBox guest OS. This proves the core of Windows 11 24H2 runs on older and current hardware without TPM2 restrictions. Although after using MicroWin and removing MS Edge (without removing MSEdgeWebView2), you have a base Windows 11 that feels like Windows 95. However, 24H2 has hard-coded installation restrictions on hardware, such as Apple with macOS, and this is where Linux comes in to play for some. Microsoft is pushing technology advancements with Windows 11 including locking down their OS to a hardware to gain control over your system (such as Bing AI, Copilot+, etc.). Microsoft at one time, such as a few decades ago, had an OS for end-users, now they have it for technology advancements with not caring about the end user any longer.

  14. That system is no slouch and exceeds Microsoft's arbitrary system requirements by quite a bit lol.

A recommended upgrade you could do is to get a "Samsung 950 PRO" (512 GB) NVMe drive from Ebay,
these will boot natively on X58 systems with no modifications.

Other NVMe drives requires a usb-drive connected to emulate the NVMe protocol (which is not as good).

I'm running Windows 11 24H2 on an X58 platform with the following specs myself, without any issues:

    Intel Core i7 990X
    Evga X58 Classified motherboard
    24 GB of DDR3 (1600 Mhz)
GeForce GTX Titan X 12 GB (Maxwell)
Samsung 950 PRO (512 GB) NVMe drive

  15. Yes Windows 11 does work fine on a potato, no matter what you read in the newspaper 😅

For the record my gaming GPU test bench X58 sabertooth Windows 11 is now 2 months old. Ironic we did the same thing at the same time LOL.

Only difference is I switched from 980x to Xeon, but it seems like great minds think alike 🤓🤓🤓
