- Instalación de FreeBSD en PROXMOXDecember 7, 2024
It's a pity Ugreen didn't add a PCIe card slot to DXP4800 Plus. Ugreen should have followed QNAP in this regard and should have added the slot.
I'd like to know how well this Ugreen NAS works with TrueNAS scale and other OS's; is there driver support for the 10G ethernet NICs? …the Thunderbolt 4 ports? …included in a standard OS install, or do I have to hunt for drivers and tweak some things? (I know I'd have to make a few BIOS changes.) Seems like the hardware specs are great but I'd almost prefer they didn't try to reinvent the wheel with their own OS. There's plenty of more evolved (and free) options out there to use, but do they work well? Is there any downside to just using TrueNAS or ProxMox (or even Windows) on an additional SSD? (and set BIOS to ignoring the built in SSD to preserve warranty and the option to use UGOS). I know it's possible to install other OS's because I watched your other video, but is there any downside to going that route?
Why is there flashing in the video?
I would buy if for sale in the UK.. I'm holding out to be honest but how long for now I dunno😊
Just checked the import fees and crazy to uk from Amazon
I didnt realise we could import it here to the uk
I wanted a Ugreen NAS. Missed the Kickstarter and it is not for sale in the UK yet. I have given up waiting and bought a Flashstor 6 when it was on sale for ~£350 last month. Not offering these NAS's worldwide was a massive fail for Ugreen!
Greetings .. is direct attached ( DAS ) from PC or Mac via thunderbolt supported ?
Agree about the availability, lost out on sale from me as couldn’t make a purchase in UK so ended up get the Terramaster F6-242 Max instead.
319$ for a 2 bay is wild
The larger units have USB-4 connectivity. Can this be used to connect a mac directly to use as a ‘DAS’ or is it only network connections for accessing shared files?
Taking it all in, it just seems like they are crawling before they walk. UG will undoubtedly flesh out the missing bits over time. From what you've said, these machines seem to have a lot of promise. I just hope that the shortcomings don't poison the well with people thinking that the evolution as ceased here.
Currently UGreen NAS models are on offer stateside. Over $100 off depending on model. Personally I don’t think anything beats the Kickstarter price and while it still a decent product at retail price there are other options with similar hardware now. TerraMaster has a number of models using the Core i5 1235U and Core i7 1255U. The F6-424 Max and F4-424 Max are noteworthy options. I have the DXP8800 Plus (Kickstarter) and I am reasonably pleased with it.
I have 2 6bay units and have a question. I am happy with the hardware and true there are for sure problems with the software and tech helps very much. I want to connect a UPS to protect units on power failure, is there a way that I can connect 2 units to shut down smoothly or do I have to buy 2 UPS units?
I’m so tempted to pick up a ugreen NAS but having no previous NAS experience I’m hesitant. Synology sounds like the way to go at the moment but would like to see better hardware on their 5 bay drive.
Need an Intel CPU containing replacement for my aging Synology DS916+ (Plex transcoding), but uGreen still not on sale in UK (only Germany & US). Don’t want to import (support, taxes, etc) but would buy if on sale in UK. No I don’t want Synology’s only (aged design) Intel 4 bay NAS (423+) – embarrassing offering for 2024, but then they’ve drunk the corporate cool-aid and seem hypnotised by that market!
when i saw you jumpur, my mind read as "i hate seagate" lol
Wish they can provide option for buy hardware only and cut of the price for their still not perfect software
Going to buy terramaster F8 as they now discount 100GBP again , or another cwwk pocket nas / p8 x86 but some user reported cwwk have nvme issue where my first unit is fine (lucky)
Got a dxp8800 pro – using with TrueNAS EE + Intel A310 + 8 Exos HDD + 96GB RAM – and (for me) is the perfect plex server
Can you put an alternate OS on one of these?
Is there a way to configure shared folders level snapshots with greens . I watched many reviews and there is no word on the matter anywhere.
no, you shouldn't buy these:
1. Their OS is crap even after some big updates
2. If you ditch their OS and install your own 3rd party OS, there are other bare metal NAS or DIY options much cheaper
to expensive in uk
