Deathguard
Hierotek will probably be the first target for nerfs after they sort out the Elites situation.
I bought Hivestorn because I wanted the Rules and the Ops cards (and the equipment) I already own enough terrain and don't want to play competirively so I don't need exact vulkas.
I was in a store locally and they have a Gellerpox box on the shelf…I could almost be a dick and buy it just to flip it for a profit but I am not going to do so.
Death Guard, Noise Marines
I think Hierotek are high on the list because people are checking gotchas and new rules cause there was hype around them at the end of the last edition
Necrons can do some genuinely filthy shit, but I don’t know how powerful they are. It’s the sort of thing that brutalises the unaware but can be played around if you understand it.
I think the people who are very much in the meta are probably right about that. However, the divide between the regular crowd and the hyper competitive crowd though is pronounced as always.
Just did a tournament last week at the LGS. Its a competitive but not cut throat meta chasing crowd.
1st place got snagged by Kasrkin, dont recall 2nd, and I pulled 3rd with HotA. I played into Vespid, Phobos, and Heirotek. I think there was one Nemisis Claw player and the Phobos guy were the only marine teams (with Phobos not being meta)
The state of the game is good outside of hyper competitive spheres right now but only time will tell where it ends up.
Hobby tax is real
This should have been clickbait titled "KT players are lazy, cheap, obsessed with winning and easily led"….
They want to play a team with minimal 'hobby' requirements and least mental load, so small team (but equally, to get playing the new edition asap); they want to spend as little as possible, ideally using models they already have (if this wasn't true theyd be playing 40K); everybody plays a game to win, strong teams will always be sought out to achive this (and many will shift to adopt these as their "main"), they are heavily influenced by the internet talking heads, who have been more involved in influencer selling this edition (and who are now very vocal on whats 'broken' and will help you win)….
These points explain why you have those most visited teams
Im sticking the to ones i played last edition. Corsairs, Phobos, Salvagers, Yeagirs and Kommandos. I only get a game once a fortnight so playing anymore just dilutes the pool. It would have to be some exceptional for me to consider adding another team.
Random heirotek narrative – it’s all those 40K players who bought the ITD box with Kasrkin! Don’t believe that for a second, but I can’t explain it 🤣
Really interesting how many of the most searched are going to be declassified in 9months
There's a lot of theorising for why people look up teams, but "I have this team and I'll play it simply for variety" seems not well represented.
I think a significant reason for the Vespid and Aquilon popularity is because it’s the shiny new thing.
Very interesting video.
I’m a little sad that there seems to be a disparity between the elites and the rest of the teams. I wanted to give Kroot a go, and still will, but I’m a little less excited about the prospect now. Going to put together a Death Guard team and Angels in the mean time. Legionaries too if I can get to it.
I hear whispers on the winds that Hierotek are pretty decent.
Also, they're like the 5th most popular 40k faction or something? According to what limited data we have on popularity, that is
I like gellerpox. Which other kill team is like that?
I flirted with the idea of playing Heirotek Circle last edition. I’ll probably finish them up once I’m done painting up the Nemesis Claw.
14:33 fascinating. I'm building Hierotek right now, without the box… have acquired a Chronomancer (Orikan), an Plasmancer to use as an Aprentek, Royal Warden (Despotek), other plasmacyte models, and box of Immortals/Deathmarks. Originally a hobby project I very quickly considered that they're a team that isn't marines and potentially has legs, as well as a varied enough roster for differing playstyles. I think the Necron will be a sleeper hit with those other A/B tier teams. One observation, the lowest team on the list that you can but easily is the Navy Breachers who are technically no longer a one box team. Great video, more like this please.
I think we do have to consider vet guard/kommandos to be people’s default secondary teams. That starter set last edition was great
