Playnite could save you money if you have a big games collection. Saved me a few times from buying things twice on two different platforms (that I forgot I already own). Definitely recommended.

I wish there was a ShareX but for making smaller video clips like AMD ReLive and Nvidias Shadowplay does. Sure, the steam beta thing is decent, and ReLive and Shadowplay are also decent, but sometimes they just decide to not work.
And before anyone says "OBS" not only is the function stupidly hard to setup, but that also has the same problem as SP and RL, they sometimes just decide to not work..
Fedora Linux is the way
Notepad++ is the only reason I still use Windows at my work when I can switch to MAC. It's such an amazing program and the plugins enhance it beyond comprehension.

IRFanview Image viewer.
Supports a boatload of image formats, you can easily convert images between formats and also batch convert images in bulk. Its easy, its simple, its awesome.
GPU-Z
Awesome for folks who want to know what is happening with their GPU when rendering, or gaming. Memory usage, temperatures, GPU load etc.
Format Factory
Awesome tool to convert any image or video to another format. Best darn converter around.
Winamp
Best music player I've ever had. Can also play videos, has a lot of customization.
Bandicam
Good, simple alt to OBS for recording videos or screenshots.
Large Address Aware
An app that allows you to patch 32-bit apps to be able to use/read more system memory, making them more stable.
Foxit Reader
Simple PDF reader/viewer
Visipics
Fairly old app, but allows you to remove duplicate images on your drive, super handy too
Pandora Recovery
A tool to recover files you may have deleted with shift+Delete among other things. (I do that far too often. xD)
Flawless Widescreen
A simple app that allows you to change the resolution and sometimes the FOV for games that don't have these options built in
Audacity
Audio editing tool, super handy, especially when you're also someone that likes to mod games.
I’d suggest trying virtualization software such as VMware Workstation or Oracle Virtualbox, both free for personal use, for running old operating systems to help with getting older titles to work sometimes.
This is a twist, but I like it! I may be willing to try Vortex as I'd like to get into modding, but the spyware threat is always a priority. I consider Gamranx my "Game Informer" (RIP).

OpenShell (Start menu replacement)
ImageGlass (image viewer)
X-Mouse Button Control (remap mouse side keys to PgUp and PgDwn)
TrafficMonitor (by zhongyang219, shows network up/down on taskbar)
iMazing (free version can still check phone battery health for ex.)
ClickFix (by CemraJC, fixes "broken" mouse doubleclicks)

Considering smartphone use has curbed my old pc side hustle I was surprised that I was still up to date on my knowledge of most of these apps. A couple of new additions I may try like nanazip but none the less 7-zip still does what I need it to do, but a newer iteration may be more intuitive for someone else.
Love this, next time I buy/build a new PC, I'm coming back.
Vortex is annoying as fuck to use honestly. I only use it when it comes to Cyberpunk, but I have the mods also manually installed in my Steam files, so I don’t think you really need it. It’s easier to manually install mods from the Nexus page I find… Vortex confuses you more than anything.
Discord, OBS, GOG, and Steam are the only useful programs out of this video… the rest just sound like a waste of your time ‘cause Wins 11 does all of that already. 🤣

Don't give Vortex a try. Was decent 10 years ago before the name change and now it's a mess compared to other mod managers or simply manually dropping files.
if you like to have a fast launcher by typing keywords instead of clicking around your desktop looking for shortcuts, I'd suggest: Promptu or Keypirinha
I still love Total commander.
Out of all my years of pc gaming… Out of this whole list. I've only ever used steam… Never needed anything else.
