  1. I am still using my late 2012 Mac mini. Although it has slowed down a bit, it still works fine for browsing the web, moving files, and streaming movies. A 2013 Mac Pro would be a huge upgrade for me.

  2. the trash can was a revelation for music producers. a pretty much silent boss that could sit in the same room as the mics. i've loved mine and wish i could upgrade the OS and keep rocking

  3. I got the 12 core with 64gig ram and 1tb ssd about 2yrs ago for about $500 and still use it as a second computer with my Mac Mini Pro M2 with 16gigs and 512gb ssd ( + Externals ) and I am Happy with its performance editing Pro-DV Camera footage .

  4. I now have two trashcan Mac Pros, and I've upgraded the CPUs in both. My first trashcan, acquired in late 2022, has a 3 GHz ten-core CPU (and 64 GB of RAM and a 2 TB NVMe SSD). My second trashcan, which I acquired a couple of days ago, now has a 3.7 GHz six-core CPU (and 48 GB of RAM and a 1 TB NVMe SSD). Both CPU upgrades are non-standard and better-value than Apple's official configurations (you could order a 3 GHz Mac Pro from Apple, but with eight cores to my ten), and my second trashcan is like a Base Plus configuration: the same 3.7 GHz clock-speed, but with two extra cores.

  5. I have seen on thingiverse website that you can 3d print the trashcan case so you can fit a mini PC motherboard into it but I thought why spend hours 3d printing when you can get original case. I've bought the original Mac Pro trashcan and I just haven't got the heart to dismantle it to to fit a mini PC motherboard, perhaps you might like to do it? anyway I enjoy watching your videos.

  6. Luke but Mac Pro can work lower systems as 10.9. In music production is advantage. Music cards and menu more staff for music. Look about new Daw’s you have to buy and do thesame as M1. For me for normal using is still great

  7. So my question is this; can the Mac Mini M1 run 2 x 27" Thunderbolt Displays at the same time? Nope.

Not all of us are interested in GPU performance for gaming or video editing. Speaking for myself I am more interested in having more active screen real estate for photo editing and general productivity. If these Mac Pros can let me plug in my 2 daisy chained 27" Thunderbolt Displays and possibly add a third 27" Apple Cinema Display for one massive productivity workspace off a single computer then I would rather buy this than the M1 Mini which can't do that at all. Right now I can run the 2 TB displays off my 2018 Mac Mini and I have the 3rd Cinema display attached to a patched MBP for the productivity space. I nearly wasted my money buying an M1 Mac Mini which would have seen me lose one of those screens. I would not have been happy.
