Did you know that Windows 11 (somewhat) supports ISA VGA cards?
It’s really not the best, but it’ll get you by with the most basic display output from it!

  1. i belive error code 31 pops up when windows tres to look for default video adapter on main pcie bus dedicated for graphics but don't find it
if you had proper drivers for that graphic card it wold work, the only poblem is windows still tryes to run igpu driver on your isa card and crashes it because it has no idea isa bus exist
i had very similar problems when trying to run amd gpu in x1 pcie on g31 chipset i had proper drivers so it cleared in the end but i still had problems runing bricked gpu for mrmory testing in pcie x16 wthile integrated graphics would display (because it would disable gpu slot) and only way i could think of was to put it into x1 slot , but then the motherboard simply don't know what is where and windows also going crazy especially when this is your only connected display adapter
when runing cards in not pcie slot igpu has to be manually disabled in bios but without drivers and few restarts windows still cn't locate where the graphic card is even if it is pcie1x slot it is uessing and sending the data to a graphic card it asumes is there but not sure about
especially since isa graphics are not really pnp devices they are more symbios and windows only gets an addres of memory where it should stream video from the bios in legacy mode and never load any drivers for it

  2. That graphics card should be capable of much more than monochrome at 640×480. It's probably possible to somehow get a proper driver that actually works on Windows 11, I'd like to see that happen.

  3. – Microsoft: you can't run Windows 11 on your 5yo system, it needs a TPM, you need to upgrade

    Bob Pony: okay, how about a 35yo ISA video-card on a 20yo system? 🤔

    – So much for Windows supporting "everything", Microsoft has really gotten lazy. 😒

    – So even using an old ISA video-card won't get rid of the gdmf ROUNDED CORNERS MS forced EVERYWHERE‽‽‽ 😡😡😡

    – Next video: using a Microsoft serial mouse with Microsoft Windows 11…

10:05 Copilot didn't just give the typical cop-out MS MVP answer of "upgrade". 🤯 (Still typical useless AI response though.)

10:51 Doing a search-result for adapters is an exercise in futility because it's hard to get the result you want. For example, searching for an adapter that will let you plug in a PCI-card into an external slot that connects to a USB port will bring up almost exclusively PCI USB-controller cards. Likewise, video-adapters like HDMI-to-RCA will give you HDMI-in and RCA-out or RCA-in and HDMI-out because technically, HDMI-to-RCA could mean either. 🤷 Worse, many sellers will just keyword-spam everything, including both versions/directions in their listings. 🤦
