Ransomware Hits Mendaki: 73,000 Personal Records Encrypted
On 27 October 2022, the PDPC received a data breach notification from Yayasan Mendaki informing that its on-premises VMWare ESXi servers were encrypted by ransomware. As a result of the Incident, the personal data of nearly 73,000 individuals were encrypted and rendered inaccessible. This includes their names, NRIC numbers, date of birth, phone numbers, email addresses and bank account details.
