The Rise of Techno-Orientalism in the 21st Century
This video provides an extensive analysis into the philosophy of Orientalism and Techno-Orientalism in the context of the east-west and US-China divide in the 21st century. Exploring both the constructs of Techno-Orientalist narratives, frameworks and perceptions, in addition to such contradictions which underly Techno-Orientalism. To support the information I have provided in the video, I have embedded texts from original sources at various points in the video. The main scholars I cite are; Edward Said (epistemological history), Susan Greenhalgh (sociological) and David S. Roh, Betsy Huang and Greta A. Niu (historical) among others.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what the credentials are of “Keisha Ishino”, I simply found her article to be of interest. The quote at 18:46 is somewhat out of date, although the original point still stands.
