5 Simple Steps to FIX Windows 11 File system errors BSOD and disk problems
Today we are following 5 EASY steps to FIX your WIndows 11 File System or System Files.
This is important to do periodically as WIndows is known to slowly degrade and become a bit of mess over time.
Fixing up your Windows 11 filesystem can help you lead a BSOD free life. And keep Windows running like it did when it was first installed, or at least remain stable!
STEP1
Checking the disk drive for file system errors.
Open Command Prompt as administrator,
Enter the following prompt “chkdsk c: /f /r” and press Enter. You will then see a prompt to run this disk check on restart, type Y and press Enter again.
STEP2
Check the System Health.
Enter the following prompt: “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth” and press Enter. This will command the DISM tool to do a quick scan of the system disk and verify any corrupted data.
STEP3
A more in depth scan of the Windows image.
Use “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth” and hit Enter again. This will look to identify the specific file corruptions. You can also press the up arrow and just delete part of the previous command.
STEP4
Fix the Windows Image
If Windows found some corrupted data in the WIndows Image this is where we can fix it.
Type in “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth” and press Enter.
As before You can press the up arrow and just delete part of the previous command.
STEP5
Actually repairing the “live” Windows System files in your WIndows 11 installation.
run Command Prompt as administrator, then use the prompt “SFC /scannow” and press Enter.
Might be worth running this a few times, and possibly reboot between them for good measure.
This should have Cleaned the Windows 11 backup image of the Windows system files to the correct versions and latest builds. And the SFC command should have detected any that are wrong and automatically replace them with the known good new ones from the newly restored windows image.
