they should just bring out windows 12 , I don't even like windows 11 i still use windows 10 pro it has 0 problems way better windows then windows 11
I'm happy to hold off for the time being too
makes sense why i had to manually update on my PC i got an ASUS motherboard always run latest firmware but i only had issues that others had so far with the sfc and disk cleanup
so far nothing in useability problems
Thank you for the alert about accepting the Windows 11 24H2 update. Yes, I have Microsoft Windows 11 Professional, but I have no worry because I am not in a hurry at all!๐
Windows 11 (any version) was released too early. At best I'd call it an advanced beta version of windows 12 because it's certainly not a "complete" OS like Win10 was (actually half of Win11 IS Win10 still, there's still some Win7 in there too lol). MS's only goal the last few years is to prioritize data collection and monetizing every little thing they can while ignoring users requests and even simple basics like having ONE control/settings panel instead of things being all over the place. Over half of windows is still a work in progress, it's essentially win10 if it was run by a big video game studio (half baked, half assed, half missing and half broken and all about making money). And every update is like a loot box, it could be something really useful or just a box full of dung.
Excellent job detailing the specifics around the bugs. Too many content providers click bait the issues without explaining the limited hardware impacted; very refreshing to hear you going through the details!
Win 11 24H2 , update issues I decided to block any updates to 23H2 see about my system won't qualify anyway to new specs ! Windows getting worser with every version, W!0 maybe still holy compaired. Some MS worker promised bo more version beyond, my W10 MS surface upgrade failed so will not do that again !
It installs and enables recall, I'll stick with Win 10 for now, Linux comes next.
Strange… I have voicemeeter banana installed on my 24H2 machine 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled Voicemeeter Banana, installed 24H2 manually, then reinstalled Voicemeeter Banana. I've only had one blue screen, but it was when I was logging into Windows. Could be voicemeeter, but never checked the logs out thoroughly. I wonder if it's just Voicemeeter base app, or the others too like Banana and Potato. It's working on my machine with 24H2. Not to say others won't have issues, but just fyi. Other than that, no issues so far.
I've enjoyed some of the improved colour management in 24H2, but from my experience there's probably a lot more issues with Memory_management BSODs than have currently been documented. Getting a BSOD about every other day. And some games refuse to launch, or crash a few minutes into launching. I fully accepted the reality of 24H2 issues before installing though. as the saying goes: The bleeding edge cuts you.
went back to win 10, 11 sucks big time
aka. 3 more reasons to stay on win10.
im not leaving win10 till win12 releases
if you have 24h2 you can uninstall recall using this:
Check If Recall Is ON or OFF
Open up the Terminal (as Admin) and type in this command
Dism /Online /Get-Featureinfo /Featurename:Recall
Depending on your preference these commands can either ENABLE or DISABLE the software.
Disable RECALL: Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall
Enable RECALL: Dism /Online /Enable-Feature /Featurename:Recall
i didn't test it yet , I'm still with 23h2.
I updated to window 10 so I am in no hurry.
Since I updated my system, I'm getting weird errors, specially for gaming. Like Games crashing and some games like BF2042 not opening no matter what I do. I wish I could go back to 23h2, but I don't want to make a fresh install. Hoping coming updates will fix all the issues.
You should expect this sort of issue from a small tech company like Microsoft from time to time. It's not as if they are a major player in the OS market or anything. Oh, wait …
seems it was only ready for clean installs.
I just installed windows 10 pro on my new 1,800 Euro pc. Although they gave me togethee with free win 11 – i removed it and installed win 10.
The feature updates are always too early. There are always issues with them. That's why I don't upgrade until it's absolutely necessary.
Yesterday 24H2 was trying to automatically install on me, which is strange cause I had to use the Installation Assistant to get 23H2 installed a few months ago.
Luckily I did not have enough storage for it, so I was able to pause it for now. Hopefully these known issues get resolved…
These new windows updates has more issues than any Linux distro. It's a shame!
And we're back to buggy updates as we had with Windows 10. Microsoft really doesn't care to test their OS.
I have had little issues with 24H2 other than the Disk Cleanup space… But i do have an issue with Window Update. I have to press the button a few times to make it work…
Didnt asked for that crap anyway, 23h2 works good enough. Nice and stable..
I paused the updates. NOT taking any chances…good job!
Better For Gaming
Lol ๐ Running Perfectly For Me
Are these issues also on LTSC
I feel they didnโt even test this with multiple computer specs before rolling it out I got it through the window updater and I canโt do anything.
I don't think microsoft released 24H2 to early i think they are just being slapped with the reality of things. The reality is microsoft can't always account for every possibility there are things they can't know until the update is tested on real world machines. The variables are greater in the real world than they are in a testing environement. Microsoft are not the only ones faced with such dilema's pretty much every software maker is.
Of course it was pushed out early. They had to get it out because of the hardware deals with OEMs (copilot key and NPUs)
People need to chill, this is not a mandatory update, it is a feature update. WWYD an update on a critical environment?
23h2 lowers fps in games 24h2 gives it a boost minus some quite underlying bugs glitchs etc with it but overall for me using windows 11 24h2 normally its the best thing ever
with group policy edit, one can stay on 23H2…
I've successfully set my Windows 11 Home to stay on 23H2 until I decide otherwise…
even though my windows usage rate is less than 5%
Microsoft can't seem to do anything right.

I couldn't hold off, I unload new ver. on the Nvmie and is for now ok, faster than previous ver. no issues for now.
Those are all related to windows spying on the users.
it is smooth to use windows 11 24h2 . i have a old device ryzen 4600h and gtx 1650 . its working fine no issues. i am getting more fps in games like genshin impact and wuthering waves on max settings.laptop basically hp company
Yeah I will wait for at least 3 months after initial release to do this update. If things don't go better, another 3 months.
Something is very wrong in Microsoft kingdom ~ too much resourced now allocated on Windows on ARM (pointless if you ask me), fixing AMD performance for gaming on 24H2 (think of Xbox – pointless for business), AI (shareholders) and 365 …. you wonder if they actually care about Windows on intel this day (99% of their users ….).
I'm sticking with 23H2 for a long time. I don't want that recall and co-pilot shit on my system.
So far, all I've noticed with a fresh install of 24H2 downloaded with the media creation tool is that 8.63GB storage issue that won't go away.
I havenโt actually even been offered the update yet, and Iโm kind of glad cause I knew this would happen. Iโm sure eventually Iโll get it and by then itโll be better, Iโm in no rush.
Thanks for all your terrific content and keeping us updated.
I voted yes on your poll
24H2 killed my 23H2 install on my Asus Dash F15 laptop intel 11th gen. 24H2 installed, then blue screened after install and destroyed widows boot manager. Had to do complete wipe of my data, got 24H2 installed and then reinstalled software. Huge PITA. I have other systems on 23H2 and will be staying that way for now. Just call us Microsoft alpha testers. ๐โบ๏ธ๐
I had the sfc/dsm issues as well as an issue with 24h2 not idling to sleep mode. Fixed by restoration of a full disk image via Macrium Reflect.
