2025 Honda Civic Si | Even Better, Still Manual
We drive the newly updated 2025 Honda Civic Si, one of the best and most affordable fun cars. It costs $30,000, and it still has a manual transmission. Which would you choose: Toyota Corolla, VW GLI, or Hyundai Elantra?

Would love to have one of these… but I need a hauler for my next vehicle :-/
This car is about the only car left that matches the vision of Soichiro Honda. Enjoy it before they take it away.
1. The Si doesn't need more power. 2. FWD torque steer can become a major factor with too many horsies, and there comes a point of diminishing returns where power upsets handling in this platform.
Jesse finally upgraded to an Audi and got his revenge on the Honda.
If you think this is expensive…..it is the proce of a base model Mustang with no options….which would you rather have?
It's an amazing car inside and out.
Barely big enough for two let alone three
Finally got to test drive a 2024 civic si and it was nice, great shifter, great seats I really liked it. Then went to the VW dealer and took a test drive in a GTI. Well I feel like they both handled the same, however the GTI had more adjustments for suspension (in the model I drove) (had the leather seats) that felt really nice…cool and heated front seats. Wasn't a fan of the touch buttons but I undertand that is fixed in 2025. What I did notice was the quickest of the GTI 0-60 and a little beyond 🙂 The GTI I feel would leave the Si at the starting line if that is important to anyone. The 2025 comes with more HP so guessing it will be even quicker/faster. I want a new daily and hopefully and test drive the 2025 and then make my decission. Can't wait for you to get a GTI and do a review would value your opinion.
$34k and it’s described as entry level with a straight face. I feel like I’m in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
It would be FAR better if it were 25% smaller and in two door, coupe form.
Americaaaa? Wasnt that an Audi?
Really wish they'd get back to a 2.4 or at keast a 2.0
That said fun commuter car
WRX far superior, not sure why not noted as a competitor. Bigger engine, boxer, better handling, and AWD traction. Barely any more expensive. Odd oversight.
I'm so damn high this Sunday 😂😂😂 this completely confused me in the beginning like, didn't I click on that channel and not that other right? 😂😂😂 Nice to see some comradery amongst car channels
The front end does look better.
I still think the 1.5L engine is a total POS that should get revised. I am happy to hear about people driving these up into high miles, but I just wonder about the overall reliability of that engine due to my own experience with the Sport. Sorry, but not sorry. I have two other vehicles whose oil never gets diluted with gasoline. It's just super annoying.
A drive with Patrick and Spongebob.
Assault on manuals continues
These civic manual gear boxes feel like older circa 2010 Mazda gear boxes. And this is good
Great review. Great job. Interesting information about the more compliant suspension. Are the spring rates also softer?
Some of my favorite Canadians.
Way way way too big
4:16 gives you that Nashville ( Smashville) experience of driving on interstate 24, 40, and 65 minus the tractor trailers.
2:20 can someone explain how adaptive cruise control would work with a manual?
happy with my decision to buy a 24 mazda 3 premium plus sedan mhmm
I owned one of these (2023) but had to sell it. I miss it all the time. What a perfect car – all the great practical things about the 11th gen civic, and on a twisty road it is a hilariously eager and playful and satisfying car to drive. If you're on the fence, just go for it, 100%.
When you say the trunk is “massive” are you comparing it to like a Miata or Hyundai accent? Just asking because you guys also call the pilot and palisade a large vehicle…just kinda strange I guess
It does not feel expensive inside. It feels just about where every car in its class and price-point feel. Honda did not "un-shitbox" the compact economy car with all that thin and cheap plastic, everywhere.
I absolutely love the fact that you did this on the Natchez Trace Trail! I've driven parts of that many times while I lived in Nashville and it's a beautiful drive. Saw my first McLaren on that road. I owned a 1987 Civic Si, 2013 Si, and 2018 Civic Si (Stinger GT2 AWD, Evo X since then) and am anxious to get back into a manual Honda. Still can't wrap my head around the cost difference between the Si and Type R though. Thanks for all the insight during this production and the memories it brought back! I "raced" an Augusta on that road in a non-stock 2005 Tiburon…was NOT a race, but the ride and I spoke at an exit and we both enjoyed it. Beautiful drive if you ever have time to do any part of it . . . Franklin, TN to Natchez, Misssssissssssippppppppiiiiiiiiii.
3 percent more rigid..Woahhhhhhh! Amazing!
WRX is another manual sedan.
This or Elantra N -line 6mt for assuming cheaper
Really interesting and meaningful contributions from StraightPipes on this one…
Why do car manufacturers think people that like sporty cars don’t want warm hands? Looking at you Honda and Audi.
"essentially no 4-door, sporty manual cars left on the market"
GLI
GTI
WRX
Mazda3 Hatch
Corolla GR
This is the best time to be a budget-minded car enthusiast. Why don't car reviewers see that?
Isn’t civics becoming more expansive. Or Honda is making it flagship product
Elantra N over this.
the 1.5t engine is trash tho
Great vid
When I picked up my '23 Si, I wasn't a big "Honda guy" but things change. I've had my car for almost two years now and I still get excited every time I hop in. It won't blow you away with straight line speed, but it gets going well enough. The real fun, is when it's time to shift and fling it around corners. Yeah I have the crappy all-season tires but I still keep it tight when I get in that mood.
I definitely recommend one, it's my first manual car and I couldn't have picked a better new car to really get used to it in. Mine does have some rattles and it can be noisy on the highway but despite that, even though it's a modern car, it feels alive. I feel like the Type R is starting to call my name.
