With VMware moving to subscription, I installed Citrix MCS running FREE Hyper-V Server 2019 like in old times, which still comes with extended support until 2029. Paired with the licensed SCVMM 2022, included in MECM, which for sure your company already pays for, makes a good combination of not breaking your wallet.
Managing VMM might be complex, but the payoff can be substantial. The Hyper-V Server 2019 provides a cost-free hypervisor for running a high-density hardware environment with potentially thousands of VMs. VMM will support any additional deployment like PVS, ELM or VPX appliances. Cluster can be built as well on Server 2022 Hyper-V if you run Datacenter edition (worth paying for high density environment) adding features like unlimited VMs and S2D for your persistent deployments.
PRO tip: never underestimate the speed of Hyper-V
