1035BCN – VCF vMotion Application Notification: What. Why. How
Certain mission-critical applications do not tolerate the brief “freeze period” which happens during a vMotion operation well. This leads VI and Application Admins to avoid performing manual vMotion operations on the VMs, or scheduling planned outages for the VMs when a vMotion operation is unavoidable. With the introduction of vMotion Application Notification in vSphere 8.0, Vi and App Admins are now able to intercept and delay a vMotion operation long enough for them to perform manual or automated admin tasks to prepare the application inside the VM for the vMotion operation. With this ability, vMotion operation is effectively unobtrusive for sensitive applications In this Session, we will demonstrate how to enable and configure Application Notification for a production, mission-critical, clustered Microsoft SQL Server instance in VCF
